The one with an injury i don't need

After years being blessed with good health and physical condition, I guess its finally taking its toll on me. For once I suffered an injury where I can't say when I will return. But I'm hoping to be out for a week, just rest and no physical games for the week.
Suffered a back injury last weekend during futsal Saturday. No idea how it happened. I did my usual warm-ups and stretching. Early in the game, I felt my back gave way. And now I have trouble bending over when I pray and also tying my shoelace.
I don't need this sort of injury now. Just as I was finally finding form and rediscovered my game for basketball (had a great game on Wednesday). Also we plan to play in a futsal tournament next month, and I can't actively take part in the training sessions.
For now, I'm just going to let it rest.

The one where I need to be lighter

I'm carrying to much weight. I need to be lighter, faster and more agile. A certain Mr Wayne once said this in the biggest movie of 2008. In his case it was his armour, in mine is body mass.
Been packing a lot of weight lately. Lack of exercise plus poor eating habits. Need more discipline. Most wouldn't notice as my height helps with the illusion. But once I rip off my shirt it is not a sight to set pulses racing. Besides, think it will tear my tights and spandex.
So now I'm in a serious relationship I need to start reducing the numbers. That was a promise I made to myself.
So what else is new? Well I joined the twitter bandwagon.

The one with the five

Just decided to go with a weird title with no relation to what I'm posting. Well maybe there is, well maybe I will just list down five random points or events or news from the past few days.
One, word out for my injured friend Shahrizan. Found out he has a torn ligament and broken bone chips (hope I got that right, if the Mrs is reading please re-confirm). The injury was way much worse than expected. Now I've lost 2 teammates to injury. I fear an exodus will follow in the wake of this and the futsal session players will be depleted. Even if we try to be careful and not do a 'Martin Taylor' there will still be one or two over-zealous robust jokers who just want to inflict pain on someone. Nowadays I try to play smart instead of relying on skills and talent. Pace myself and let the game flow with precise ball placement.
Two, had an impromptu karaoke session last weekend with Farrish and Shahreza. I believe these unplanned sessions are a whole lot fun. And it all began while we were listening to Backstreet Boys...I mean Bon Jovi in Farrish's car. We were listening to an old CD from Farrish's days in college. From there we just went with the flow to rock the house. Its safe to say (or not) that my karaoke groove is back.
Three, I really need to lose weight. That seems to be the first comment I get every time I meet some friends I haven't met in ages. Just told them I spend my money on food since I have no one to spend/pamper/spoil my money with. Changing my dietary habits by cutting out rice from my diet. But also need to figure out alternative exercise habits since futsal hasn't really help.
Four, word up to my friend Shahreza. He recently join the Telekom rowing team. They will be competing in some water festival event at the end of the month. Make the entourage proud dude.
Five, its reported the New York governor Eliot Spitzer spent $80,000 on sex. The question is, who's money was it? Money from his own pocket or the New Yorkers.
Damn, that was harder than I thought.

The one with the paintball

Where to begin? Well for starters I'm falling sick again. Seems like I get sick easily these days. Then again it could be due to the Jekyll and Hyde weather we've been experiencing. That's global warming for you.
Tried my hand at paintball yesterday. It was a department thing which was a whole lot of fun. It was my first time plying paintball and when they mention pain and bruises, they weren't kidding. We played at Mudtrekker, somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Sungai Buloh. It was a natural terrain field and the rain did cause to place to be muddy.
After being briefed on the safety procedures we went on to play. I programmed myself to shoot anything that moves, since I had trouble seeing with my glasses and the face mask on (mental note to self, learn to wear contacts). Getting hit at was normal, as I was hit almost everywhere. But there was a scare, I got hit right at my Adam's apple and the hit flew my face mask off. Probably blanked out for a while. Thankfully I didn't suffer any serious injury (think I can still go karaoke if I want to). Also tried a 'Superman' moment. I tried to catch a pellet. Which was not very clever at all. All in all, had great fun.
I guess it will take a few days for the bruises to heal. But the mark on my neck really looks like a love bite mark. Not sure how the public will respond to that.

The one with the unwell me

Well with a few days left in Ramadan I couldn't make it two full fasting months. Very unwell since last night before buka. Was vomiting earlier and I had a buka puasa with clients that night. Still went for the event, but couldn't eat much. So I thought I could sleep it out.
I was wrong. It continued to bug me once I entered the city and office. I seriously believe that the air-conditioning in my building is very unhealthy. Come to think of it, I always get sick in the office these days. And I'm not the only one. Most of my colleagues also are also infected. My boss has filed a complaint about the air-conditioning, but even after service, it doesn't make much of a difference.
Finally took my first MC in two years and 2nd overall since I started work in 2002. And guess today all my colleagues were happy to be rid of me since with raya around the corner they don't want to catch fever.
Anyways. I hate being sick. Oh well time for my medicine and sleep.

The one with Ratatouille and my health

Finally caught Ratatouille on Wednesday with my office colleagues (whose names will be altered later to protect privacy). Anyways I'm a big fan of cartoons both big screen and small screen. I find it both entertaining and funny and also the technology of animation has come a long way since Walt Disney introduced a mouse into the world. I'll spare you with the movie details as I believe most has seen it or will soon.
However pre-movie was one of those 'bonding' moments with my colleagues. Went with my colleagues from work Jeniffer, Hillary, Winona and Gareth. Movie was at 6:45pm at TGV KLCC and we left office at 6.00pm. We decided to go in Jennifer's car even though I suggested walking was a better option. Turned out we were stuck in traffic for an hour, when we could have taken a 15 minute walk. And it was the longest 1 hour traffic jam I ever been caught in.
Well we did keep ourselves occupied, well the three ladies did by using me as the human target. They had a lot to say among them was my karaoke showmanship. Well they were honest enough to tell me that I 'overdid' it. (Mental note to self : when karaoke with office mates I must BEHAVE). Also somehow I was the victim for almost everything. It was 3 against 1 and my friend Gareth wasn't of much help. But somehow it helped me in bonding with my colleagues. So now they see me as a funny-blur-geek. Maybe that's what they saw when I first joined, maybe they expected another side of me. Well the other side of me is karaoke.
And today, I was struck down with the flu. Didn't feel good the whole day and didn't get a chance to see the doctor. Not to say I was tied with work, but there were certain things that required my attention. In the end I went straight home after work and made myself some soup. And I know I should be getting some sleep soon.
Finally, a sad story. To keep it short, two friends and a joke went wrong. To my friends, I hope you can work things out and be friends again. Its sad that a mis-understanding has led to this. I for one am not one for confrontation or taking sides, but in the name of friendship I hope you can work things out again, we've all been through a lot to let this be the end.
Now I should really wrap myself in a blanket and hope I feel better in the morning.

The one with ergonomics

After the last post which could have been mistaken for an episode of Smallville, I should have put disclaimer which is better said in the Malaysian language 'kisah ini tiada kaitan dengan yang hidup ataupun yang mati' or the term 'bukan nama sebenar'.
Anyways back to the topic at hand. I am not going to go detail or scientific here. Just a general explanation. I admit I spend way too much time in front of my computer or which I once dubbed 'the ultimate gaming machine'. Not anymore dude to hardware advances and no significant upgrades.
I have been having this nagging 'discomfort' on my right wrist since like forever. Only recently the discomfort is beginning to get to me. It is said its the way one positions his hand when using ones mouse and keyboard. In my case its always been about the mouse. I believe my mouse at home is ergonomically correct, but the same can't be said for the one in the office. Then again office equipment is very much standard and I don't think they would want to cater to individual needs.
Well its a good thing I'm no longer active in basketball as I want to. If not, my shooting would be way off and I more likely to make a lefty-scoop-layup then the usual money shots I used to make (keyword USED TO).
And why am I posting about my wrist pains I have no idea. By the way, football update, Becks scores his first goal for LA Galaxy, makes his first assist and picks up his first yellow card earlier today. And last I check, my beloved Spurs still suck with a capital S.
Almost forgot, last night had drinks with Amryl, Farrish and Rafiq (semua nama sebenar). Amryl left early to pick up his wife from the airport. Then the three of us began doing flashbacks of our carefree time back after we finish school. Don't know how we suddenly got to talking about that, but it was nice to reminisce about the good old days. Come to think about it, it was ten years ago. Events that shaped what we became today.
Well I don't plan to go flashback here, but one thing I know has change is now I'm relatively larger than life (and not in a good way).

The one with the zombie

Short title today. Hope you enjoyed the video posted earlier. Took me some time to figure how to link the video, but managed alright in the end.
Yesterday I had penne carbonara for lunch. After lunch my whole body started to itch. Went to the gents to check and there were rashes all over my body. Went straight to the clinic after that. Doc suspected allergy, but I'm not really allergic to anything. I avoid seafood though because it causes shortness of breath. The doctor suggested an injection, but i figured I be okay with lotion. Then when the doctor mention that it has spread to my back then they had to resort to an injection.
After the injection, the need to scratch the itch was gone. However the side-effect of the injection in drowsiness. Once the dose kicked in, I really felt like nodding off. I still went for my futsal session later that night. Had an awful game. My mobility was like half speed. Managed a couple of goals and assists, but overall lousy performance. Figured it must have been one of those games.
Today at work until now I'm still feeling the effects of the dose. A lot of stories to tell about work today, but I'm saving it for a later date.
Played futsal just now also, and still moving at half speed. I'm beginning to wonder how strong was the dosage given. I know I'm suppose to like doze off but part of me doesn't want to sleep yet.
Speaking of sleep, had a weird dream couple of nights ago. I dreamt I was in an asylum. A friend of mine interpreted the dream for me. According to her review, I guess she was spot on (again I didn't elaborate). Something I'm saving for later. You are now probably wondering why I'm saving stories. Friends close to me would know, as for the rest of you, you'll find out soon enough. Even have a great title for it.
You would also be wondering about the zombie part. Well the way I've been these couple of days seems as if I was zombiefied. Is that even a word?
