The one with after the wedding

Alhamdulillah, all went well. Finally all is done and can breathe a huge sigh of relief. Anyways, this post is not about how the event went. But about a few people who just want to rain on my parade.

For those who came, I appreciate your presence. For those who couldn't make it, no worries. For those who were not invited, my apologies. For those who were not invited and posting messages on my Facebook wall on merajuk and terkilan, I have nothing to say to you.

My wedding is just a simple reception for family and close friends as well as fellow schoolmates from SMTTDI. I'm happy to say that my fellow schoolmates all share a close bond. Even when most of us has moved from the greatest place in the Klang Valley. Close friends here are those who allowed me to be part of their lives and very sincere in our friendship.

Most who are not invited do not fall in any category. You've never invited me to any of your events. I was never embraced by your group, as you always treat me like an outsider.

On another note, there are those who I forgot to invite. My apologies there.

Also an update from my photographer Peeps, there are 1200plus photos to edit. Which will probably take around a month. Can't wait to see the end product. (Peeps - no rush).

The one where today is the day

Today is the tomorrow we talked about yesterday. More like the day we penciled since 2 January 2010.
Insyaallah I will be getting married today. In like another 4 hours to show time.
And now I'm trying to keep it together.

The one with my debut as kipas boy

The final leg of the Farrish-Ida wedding has been completed. It went smoothly and well without any glitches. Congrats again to the bride and groom. As for me, I made my debut as kipas boy.
Well we all had an early start to the event. Early start meaning rehearsals. We did two takes. The first was probably just to see how the flow went, which is probably why the first take was long. Second take was a breeze. After the rehearsals, I went home, since it was nearby to get ready and shave. I didn't wear the suit from home though. Wore it at the hotel in Farrish's honeymoon suite. While I was there I helped myself to some grapes. While Ida was getting ready and waiting for the others to arrive we watch some TV. They were showing the making of Star Wars Episode 2.5. Looks cool as it was action packed.
Before heading down, we (bride & groom and best man & bridesmaid) waited for our cue to go down. And when we were down, we waited near the hall for the entrance que. Killed some time by taking some photos. Then Shah arrived as he saw us waiting outside. I passed my camera to him, since I wouldn't be able to take pictures while kipas-ing the groom.
My friends later mention that I was kipas-ing Farrish as if I was kipas-ing satay. Guess my Kajang roots had a role in that. Or maybe I do move at a different speed.
Finally it was showtime and in my mind I had the Joker's quote "and here we go". The hardest part for me was pacing myself, as I had to move slower than usual by taking smaller strides. On stage, did my part, kipas-ing the groom, cleaning his hands from the merenjis part and smile. After that was pretty much straight forward. Escorting the bride and groom to the main table and later after that to the cake.
Amryl gave the speech for the groom's side. Nicely done may I add. And he manage to keep politics out of the speech.
So finally the event was done. All the guests left except family members and close friends. Once the guests left, we took the opportunity to ask the live band to play some rock numbers. We just needed to rock and dance. Well Amryl and Shah were all out for it. And it was pretty much contagious as others began rocking. It is a sign that we are way overdue a karaoke session.
Oh, in case you are wondering, the bridesmaid's name is Arfah. I just followed her lead most of the time. She is a doctor based in Seremban. She was stunning that night and not forgetting to mention she has a great sense of humour. Chemistry wise, we did click. And yes, I did get her number.
It was opening day for the English Premier League, and my Spurs lost. But I had a great night, so I didn't really care about that. Last of all, my resemblance to Clark Kent / Superman didn't escape most people. So much for keeping it a secret.

The one with the triple-8 events

An overdue post. Being 3 days late. But triple-8 was a great day for two of my friends. Congratulations to Farrish-Ida who are now husband and wife. Also congratulations to Kaleon on the birth of your baby girl.
Will Kaleon's daughter was born 8 minutes into triple-8. So time of birth 0008 on 080808. First girl for him after he was blessed with 3 boys. Guess it was a relief for his wife also. So the girl was named Eisya Sueraya. And I thought he was going for a comic based named after he named his third son Kalel. Anyways the birth was subject for media coverage and think made the front page of a local daily publication. Congrats again.
Next up, my best friend Farrish got married. Triple-8 was the night of the akad nikah. On the night of the opening ceremony of the Olympics which resulted in a massive jam around Klang Valley. We were all actually late due to the traffic. Myself and some friends arrived first to ensure Ida's family that all is okay. So the proceedings went quickly, as it was a long day for the Tok Kadi, where Farrish-Ida's nikah was the 12th he had to perform for the day. Well Farrish got it right in one shot. And then after that was photo session. Except that the guys (Shah, Reza, Eddy, Sadique, Affandi and myself) were very hungry. Also I had to send the groom back home later that night. And I thought he'll be sleeping over at Ida's place.
Also last night was the wedding reception for Ida's side. I was invited for that dinner also. Very casual laid back dinner. They even had a karaoke session (okay not really but there was singing and dancing). Ida wanted me to go up on stage and sing, but Farrish gave the "for-the-love-of-God-please-don't" look. Was very tempted to sing though as part of the karaoke stars (Amryl and Shah-Faizah) were there to back me up.
Farrish's sides wedding reception dinner will be next week. And for that one I has been appointed best man which in this part of the world means kipas boy.

The one with Liz & Aaron's wedding

I actually kinda forgot to post about this. Since the wedding was last Saturday. But I'll write a few bits and pieces about it. And also last Saturday was my niece's birthday. But we will be having her birthday party after the fasting month.
So last Saturday (6 October 2007) was Liz & Aaron's wedding KL leg. The previous weekend was the Melaka (Liz's hometown) edition. The wedding dinner was held at Concorde KL. Among the attendees were my ex-colleagues from Affin Discount. It was nice to see everyone again. We manage to catch up a bit especially with my ex-boss, Kak Yam. And somehow they were all asking when it was my turn. Just told them 29 February 2009. Also a lot of friends there and spent most of the time catching up.
As for the wedding itself, food was good, except it was slow and started late (but that's normal). Settings wise were very simple and elegant. Since the wedding planner was Stephen Fung, it had to be well planned and choreographed.
Anyways it was nice to seem them finally get married, they've been together for almost 8 years (I think). I wish them a lifetime of happiness.

The one with the farewell dinner, Izani's wedding, karaoke and bowling

Long title for this post as plenty of material this time around. Plenty to post, hopefully I'm still in the groove. As for the events, it all began on Thursday night till Saturday afternoon before my futsal Saturday session.
The farewell dinner was for Hazeriq and Melvin. Hazeriq suddenly resign on Wednesday and Melvin has completed his one month internship. As for Hazeriq's resignation, it came as a sudden surprise to everyone, but I guess he has his reasons. But for me, he rushed his decision. And he didn't consult or talk to anyone about wanting to leave the building. Anyways, all the best in your future plans.
My colleagues decided to hold a farewell for both Hazeriq and Melvin at Delicious One Utama, since both of them live within the One Utama radius. Attendees included my colleagues Marlini, Su Farn, Huzaila and Maz. We were later joined by Mr Yee and his wife Elsy. Food was good but the waitress was something else. Sweet girl and very good at her job. Working part time as she is still studying, her shifts are on Thursday and Friday. Sounds like an idea for buka puasa one Thursday or Friday.
As for Friday, double gig for me. First attend my colleague Izani's wedding at Merak Kayangan. After that, a karaoke session. One last show before the fasting month. But as I recall, we did buka puasa karaoke last year. The rockers include Shahreza, Farrish-Ida, Shah-Faizah and newbie Nadya (hopefully she was not traumatized by our performance). Well last night a lot of new songs performed including Linkin Park's What I've Done, Justin Timberlake's SexyBack and our new favourite which will be included in the "must-sing-during-karaoke-session-list" Mika's Grace Kelly. We all had fun singing, jumping and dancing to the tune. As well try to imitate his voice.
However, last nights session took an ugly twist. Lets just say there were issues and 4 of the 7 were missing most of the session. But those who remained, tried to make the best of it. Felt if we had the whole group, would have been more fun. But at least its good to know that things have worked out. For me, despite my efforts to keep the place rocking, its not the same without everyone. Hopefully our next vocal exercise session will turn out differently.
I entered a bowling tournament under my bank's sports club. Well my scores impress anyone, but I joined for fun. But bowling organized by PPKM is a whole lot fun, or maybe because I'm still relatively unknown to AM. As for my scores I hit 107-149-131. Didn't do any training prior to the tourney, so my first game was "finding-rthym-game". Began to pick up in second frame, but when it came to the third frame, the cross-lane team resorted to time wasting tactics by going MIA. Their delays really put me of my groove. And the door gift was a t-shirt. A Scouser-red t-shirt. Red really doesn't work for me.
Still made an appearance for futsal Saturday, even though I was half-an-hour late, but promised the guys I'll come as numbers were not promising. Still manage to produce one moment of inspirational genius-like magic. With the fasting month coming up, I guess my futsal sessions will take a break and be held as per need-to-play basis and subject to availability of players.

The one with Shah-Faizah's wedding

Triple 7 day today. Which is also the wedding reception for ShahFaizah. Congratulations to both of them on their joyous occasion.

The night before was the akad nikah ceremony. Which myself and Farrish attended, just to be there for Shah. Well he manage to go through the akad on the first try.
Today's reception is at Faizah's side in Bangi. Convoyed with Shah (the other one), Badrul, Jeff, Lan and his partner Lin (hang on, that rhymes). Farrish himself was the best man or in today's case the kipas boy. Something I believe he is kind of an expert by now. We all had futsal later, but somehow didn't take care of the food intake. I myself had two helpings as the chicken was so good.
There was a live band performance, and I was wondering why I wasn't asked to sing. But then again, I don't really know any wedding songs and I don't think My Chemical Romance would be appropriate for the occasion. We all hanged around until 3:15 as we had to go for futsal.

Today's game was so much fun. Must be the chicken. Today's game was recorded and hopefully Jeff will pass the DVD next week. A lot of footage to use this time around (I know I still haven't uploaded the last video). And I scored a goal which would make ESPN Top Ten Plays of the Day. Good game all around, fun free flowing futsal with beautiful goals.
And if you all wondering when is my turn for the big day, how about 29 February 2009. The reason, the 29 effect.
