The one with the first post from my new toy

Finally I bought a laptop. Since desktop Mark II is put off till a later date, I figure I get something as a filler.
A lot to do, as I have to set up and install a lot of programs, the itunes, winamps, messengers and etc. Also have to put up the wallpaper I use for my machines, Calvin and Hobbes.
Short post for now, still a lot to do.

The one with the end of Mark I

After almost 10 years of service and defying the times, my desktop finally came to it's end of use. Yes, my ultimate-gaming-machine-mark I can no longer be used and repairs would only be expensive.
So now the time has come for me to build Mark II. However, with most of my budget channeled to an event in July, building it now would not be feasible. I figured of just getting a notebook for now. Since I might have use for it if the idea to post me in some foreign land of sand and more sand comes to fruit.
I've dismantled the parts of Mark I and kept some parts which could be of some use (dvd-rom, dvd-burner and hard drives).
I've been checking out the prices of the parts I need as well as notebook prices. But for now, I need to backup my data from my old hard drive. Yes all my songs, videos and pictures. There is this device called a 'toaster' which can read your hard drive. Something new I learn from my friend Mark Tan.
Looks like Mark II will only be assembled by 2011.

The one with my new toy

Finally bought my toy for 2008. According to my former colleague from Affin Liz, she says I buy a new toy every year. And I didn't notice. As long as I have more toys than NASA I'm okay.
So what did I buy? Well I bought the iPod Touch. I was influenced by Farrish. It's all his fault. He should have never let me play with it. Now I'm hooked. Honestly I've been eyeing it for some time, well iPhone actually but since that seems to take like forever, I'll save that for 2009.
Still trying the get the hang of things, but so far so good. Now I'm officially a member of SHIT, short for "Society House of IPod Techies" as Farrish would call it. Now I have something else to play with on the train besides my PSP. Now I have something to put in my pocket while I listen to my music. The PSP was in bag, and you have wires coming from my bag then.
After spending a bomb on my recent purchase, I think its time for me to fast for the next few months, since I still haven't lost those excess 20 kilos.

The one where I remembered what happened on Federal Territory Day last year

A flashback post. Well I haven't join the blogosphere this time last year. If I did, I would have posted about it. It was probably one of the best days of my life (well for 2007 anyway). Its nothing that would make front page news or tabloid material.
FT day last year I went out with you-know-who. Not sure if you can call it first date, but more like first 'hanging-together' (to be on the safe side). We did typical stuff, movies (The Holiday) and Starbucking. I had great fun and really enjoyed the company. I even remember our 2nd outing on 15 February (yes I somehow remember these things) because I was 10 seconds too late to ask her out on (a now very commercialized) V-Day.
Guess I was really in one of those moods (I don't know thw word here). But I'm not really crying about it or anything. Another one of life's experience and lessons.
On Thursday night, All For Love singers (no not Sting, Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams, but Farrish, Shahreza and myself, in karaoke anyway) hanged and chilled at Coffee Hut. Which turned into a session where we played with Farrish's new iPod Touch. Damn its a very cool toy. And now, I'm planning to get one for myself. I know I have a PSP, but now is the age of technosexuals, the more techhy the better. But the price for the iPod Touch is steep. Retailing at RM 1400 for the 8 gig version at authorize Apple sellers. And bonus (if any) will be in June and my birthday is still a long way off. I also have my eye on the Macbook Air, but that would really cost an arm and a leg.
Guess I really want to have more toys than NASA.

The one with the first day of Raya

First of all, Selamat Hari Raya to all. Hope you all had a pleasant raya and healthy raya. As for me, I'm still unwell, but still manage to go through the days events.
As usual, we headed to my grandma's crib in Kajang. This year around my whole family members had the company of three babies together. My niece Aina Amirah and my cousin's kids Kamelia Ayiesha and Alejandro Ishmael. The 'Triple-A' combo as I would call them. As well as all my cousins back in Kajang this time around. Its nice to finally meet up and catch up since its been awhile since we hang together. And also my uncle was around for a bit before duty calls. Apparently his job is one of those round-the-clock gigs. Anyways the rest of the day was spent by visiting my grandma's neighbours (which I know is somehow related) as well as entertaining guests. Well I didn't really play host, just spent most of the time in my uncle's room watching TV. However it was a rainy raya, since it rained most of the afternoon.
Went back home and embarked on a project to rebuild (more like upgrade) the computer I bought from my previous employer. Long story cut short, I was allowed to buy back the computer for RM 50. Pentium 4 PC, but still needed work RAM-wise, DVDROM wise and wi-fi-wise. All three which I just resolved. I transferred the DVDROM from my current PC to the new one and installed a new DVDROM and DVD burner in my current PC. As for RAM, I still had two 256MB sticks lying around which I now have a use for. Since I already have a router all I need was a USB wireless receiver for the internet connection. Yes, I do enjoy upgrading and rebuilding computers but being a gamer, the specs I need would cost an arm and a leg.
Finally, thanks to the fasting month I manage to trim down to my ideal weight at 175lbs. Now to see if I can maintain.

The one where I met the Robinsons

Went for Meet The Robinsons today with Hafizah. Last minute spontaneous decision, since both of us had plans for the evening. Managed to get good seats, and the cinema was not even packed. In fact I don't think it filled quarter of its capacity.
Movie was enjoyable and its one of those feel good movies. Which was well needed as its been a ridiculously long day. Thank God tomorrow's Friday. I'm not going to spoil it for you by spilling the beans. I say go check it out. The storyline predictable but its a Disney movie. They gave us Bambi remember.
Earlier in the day I went to MickeyDees for breakfast. Tried their pancakes (finally!). It was nice and filling. I was still full at lunch that i just had a Magnum ice-cream. Spent most of the lunch break walking around in Low Yat. Checked out PC hardware prices as I plan to build another 'Ultimate-Gaming-Machine' by 2010 (or earlier, budget permitting). I know its a long way off, but just wanted to see the 'I-gotta-get-me-one-of-those' hardware. All i know its probably going to cost me an arm and a leg. Any donations are most welcome.
Also scouted PSP games, but nothing new or worth playing. The problem with PSP games (besides the price) is that variety and choice is limited. For me, I look for games which can help fill time, challenging and with high re-playability. Mostly games that fit those specifications are sports game in street mode like NBA Street and FIFA Street. You can actually learn some cool moves to pull off in real life. Some of which I manage to pull off, but most of the time it resulted into a turnover. Guess its signs of my diminishing athleticism (if I had any).
So i guess we can dwell in the past or keep moving forward.
