The one with the course

These end of January and early February days are good. I'm attending a 2-day course till tomorrow, Flyday is Federal Territory day and I'm taking Monday off to watch the Superbowl. Then I be at work for 2-days before the Chinese New Year break. Its great to work in Malaysia, we get a lot of public holidays.
I've been sent to attend a course of Quality Customer Service. So far, its been fun, and its nice to get away from work and meet new people, especially when the majority is not from the banking line. A diverse group of people from all over Malaysia. Lets just say I'm having fun being free from the shackles of work.
On a musical note, I have no idea why all of the sudden I'm going operock. Been listening to Meatloaf the past couple of nights, especially I'd Do Anything For Love But I Won't Do That. Even listening to it while I post this. Guess another rock show is on the cards.

The one with no cool title I can think off (again)

As you can see I can't think a title that relates to what I'm posting. Well mainly its about futsal earlier tonight and some random life ramblings.
Well futsal Tuesday was great fun. I was in the groove and everything flowed swimmingly. My game tonight was full of well choreographed goals and brilliant playmaking. Been some time since I had a game where things just fell into place. Lost count of the number of goals I've scored and also assists made. But it was nice to get in the groove again.
Earlier at work I went through my appraisal. But it was more a kopi-ais and teh-o with my boss at the building's cafe. We kept it short and simple and very casual. We also discussed about a lot of things among them was that he thinks I should try my luck in foreign shores in either Singapore or Dubai. As he doesn't see much growth and also the fact that I'm not really tied down to anyone. Honestly if the opportunity arises I will go as it would be great if I could get a fresh start where no one knows my name (and also my past). I also told my boss that I want to try my hand in other products. However current market situation, the products are there but not the volume and yields. And he did mention I can get lonely if I move to certain desks. My current desk is probably the most fun desk in the department. And also I love the hours, allows me to have time to hang with my friends.
Alrighty then, I'm really running out of ideas. Good night and good luck.

The one where we met the demon barber from Fleet Street

What a week it has been. Mainly sad news, due to the death of Heath Ledger and Megat Junid. And also sad due to the fact that Roger Federer wouldn't be able to come one slam within Pete Sampras's record after being ousted in the Aussie Open semis. At least the women's final later between Ana and Maria should be a mouth-watering clash (my pick Ms Ivanovic, its an adidas thing).
Well last night the entourage went for Sweeny Todd. One hell of a movie. Very Tim Burton-esque with the dark gloomy backgrounds and blood. The film was a musical so you get to see Johnny Depp sing. Well the dude can sing, as well as give on of the closest shaves you'll ever get. The thought does send chills through your spine and good thing I shave myself. Wouldn't want Mr Todd as my regular barber. As Calvin (from Calvin & Hobbes) once said "never argue with a man who holds scissors" (something like that).
After the movie, we all went nuts. Must be due the fact we were all lacking sleep. We were all singing after that. More like having our conversations in musical mode. (Mental note to self, never go for musicals with friends).
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to shave.

The one with Cloverfield

Movie review post. Went to catch Cloverfield last night with the entourage. I at first wasn't to keen on going, after reading the reviews say the monster didn't really live up to the hype. But I came out of the cinema feeling the movie was refreshing, even though only myself and Farrish shared the same view, the rest were very disappointed.
First of all the movie is Blair Witch meets Godzilla. The whole movie was just a camcorder recording of the whole night. I was very intrigued with what camcorder they were using, since in my calculations the whole movie took space in 12 hours. Very good battery life and very durable. The cast were all unknowns to give that regular citizens feel. You can see the panic (as well as one very irritating character) just trying to survive. As for the monster, I was expecting more actually. And I still have no idea what it is. Which is meant to be the whole idea. The idea was we were never meant to understand the movie on the outside. Just what was going on through the minds of the main characters. We don't know where the monster came from or what it is. We don't know what happened at the end to Manhattan. We don't know what became of the monster. What we know is what was seen through the lens of the camcorder. You have to understand the movie from where its coming from to understand the movie.
By the way the movie was only an hour twenty minutes long.

The one with the paintball

Where to begin? Well for starters I'm falling sick again. Seems like I get sick easily these days. Then again it could be due to the Jekyll and Hyde weather we've been experiencing. That's global warming for you.
Tried my hand at paintball yesterday. It was a department thing which was a whole lot of fun. It was my first time plying paintball and when they mention pain and bruises, they weren't kidding. We played at Mudtrekker, somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Sungai Buloh. It was a natural terrain field and the rain did cause to place to be muddy.
After being briefed on the safety procedures we went on to play. I programmed myself to shoot anything that moves, since I had trouble seeing with my glasses and the face mask on (mental note to self, learn to wear contacts). Getting hit at was normal, as I was hit almost everywhere. But there was a scare, I got hit right at my Adam's apple and the hit flew my face mask off. Probably blanked out for a while. Thankfully I didn't suffer any serious injury (think I can still go karaoke if I want to). Also tried a 'Superman' moment. I tried to catch a pellet. Which was not very clever at all. All in all, had great fun.
I guess it will take a few days for the bruises to heal. But the mark on my neck really looks like a love bite mark. Not sure how the public will respond to that.

The one where I bumped into my ex

The start of another 4-day work week. I love these short weeks. My voice recovered and so it was business as usual.
Anyways, bump into my ex-girlfriend of 3 years at the KL Sentral monorail station. I was leaving the station and she just reached the station. Ever since the split we rarely cross paths. Both living in opposite sides of Klang Valley and we both work heading towards opposite directions. Anyways it was good to see her again, just the friendly hello and short chit chat. The first thing she noticed was that I was 'wider' then she remembered. Guess its really that obvious. And as for her she looked great. I forgot to ask about if she is already married. She did mention once that she was getting married somewhere last year.
After parting ways, those memories came flashing back. Three years which I've erased somehow had a backup folder. Then I asked myself, why did I throw it all away? Then, I left it at that. No point thinking about what could have been. We both moved on with our lives and grew wiser and stronger from the experience.
Now to re-focus on the now.

The one with the first karaoke session of 2008 with the entourage

Well after some time, finally had a karaoke session with my beloved entourage (figure that's what we would call ourselves) after my last few sessions with different groups. It was good to rock the joint with them again. At least I know I have backup and not look stupid trying dance on my own.
Anyways the session was held to celebrate a few events. First of all Farrish-Ida's engagement, Shah-Faizah's new crib (wonder whens the housewarming?), the birthdays of Shahreza (28 Dec) and Ida (1 Jan) and also to celebrate the fact that Shahreza finally joined Facebook.
Well guess we rocked the joint again and I lost my voice in the end (a sign of a good karaoke session). Also after viewing the pictures, I realize I sweat a lot during karaoke. Guess you can say karaoke is now a form of exercise. Then again, you have to jump and dance at the same time. We belted out the usual tunes and some new ones like 1973, Potential Break-up Song and Selimut Hati. Even went Beatles-lesque for a while. Also the combo of Farrish-Shahreza-myself doing All For Love.
So that's three sessions for me in the past seven days. Think I might have to lay low for while (as if?).

The one where I still have no creative title

Well actually this post is about two things. But putting both on the title would be too obvious. Have to start thinking of some new titles.
First of all, I was watching the Barrack Obama speech after he won in Iowa. Not sure what was going on but the focus of attention is his speech. Very powerful and well delivered. I'm not going into detail of his speech, but I want to highlight one line he used. He said 'its not about me, its about you'. Something I believe he picked up from Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People. His speech was not talking about himself, he was making the audience feel important. And he pulled it off sincerely, which a lot of people are not able to do.
Second part is a lot of my office mates noticed that I've gain a certain amount of mass and the fact I look larger than advertised. Not a good thing and for a guy who plays futsal a lot this shouldn't happen. But it is my own doing, I have been eating a lot these days. So guess now have to find way to rectify it. Now that can be my 2008 resolution, to lose weight.
Now to start a workout regime.

Selimut Hati by Dewa 19

The one with no title I can think off

So 2008 is two days old. Lets just say it didn't really get off to the best of starts.
Anyways, I just want to post something (as well as a video after this) about what my boss said during lunch. He once attended and interview to enter a prestigious university in England. The interviewer asked 'If you had one power to make the world a better place, what would it be?'. When my boss asked me that in my mind I was thinking diabolical schemes which would probably destroy the human race. But his answer really hit me (and also the interviewer). The power to change people's attitude. Simple and deep., the world we live in is in its state today because of attitude. We can achieve great heights, if we change our attitude towards our surroundings. Think about it.
There you go, something to ponder.

The one with the new year

Happy New Year fellow readers. I know I'm suppose to to a recap of 2007 post but just so no in the flow of writing. The creative juices just aren't flowing. Hope you all had a blast last night and all the best for 2k8.
So what about my new year resolutions? Hmmm...honestly I don't really have one, then again I'm not the guy who makes these resolutions. As I know it will be broken. Besides never really thought of one anyways.
Anyways, I don't know where this post is going. Well maybe I'll just write about my highlights for the year. Well 2007 was the year I've finally change my employers name. A huge relief when I finally made the move, as I wasn't getting any love from my previous gig. What else? I guess I managed to put together a highlight reel of futsal plays and goals, sexy-futsal-style. Too bad it will all remain in my head. Should really get ESPN to record our games. Something for the kids to learn. Can't really think of anything more at the moment (I do hope there's more). Maybe just not thinking straight yet.
As for 2007 lows, guess I could really list a whole lot of them. Stupid costly mistakes. Words left unsaid. And more costly mistakes and errors. And to think I should have learn from them.
Anyways, I'm now so not in the mood. So here's to a productive year.
